Frozen Heart

Tin cans, EL wires, Ice

38 cm x 38 cm

2020

(This video is a documentation of the work.)

I made a metal heart out of tin cans, inserted el wires inside and around the heart to imitate blood vessels. Then I froze the heart in a block of ice and filmed the process of the ice melting.

By using two cold and hard materials, ice and iron, I am continuing my discussion around the moral crisis in China by reflecting on people’s mental state. Especially in 2020, as the government locked down the city, people were stuck in their own worlds. I aim to use this work to ultimately convey the role of art in giving hope and touching people's hearts by recording the melting of ice.
